Trident is the submersible motor brand of Van Bodegraven Elektromotoren B.V., a family engineering company in Dordrecht. We have been working with electric motors continuously since 1898, for inland shipping, for industrial duty, for the marine and dredging industry that the Dutch built up around us.
Van Bodegraven Elektromotoren was founded in 1898. We are still owned and run by the family. The workshop is still in Dordrecht. The engineering discipline has been passed down through three generations of the same business, and the people on the workshop floor today were trained by the people who trained the generation before them.
Trident is what we call the submersible motor part of that engineering tradition. It is the brand we use when we go to the dredging industry, the offshore industry and the marine industry with a complete motor platform that has been engineered for the way they actually operate.
We do not chase volume markets. We do not undercut on price for the sake of a quarter's revenue. We build for operators who buy a motor expecting it to be running in twenty years, and we engineer for that horizon.
Van Bodegraven Elektromotoren established as an electric motor workshop. The original focus was inland shipping and harbour applications around the Rotterdam-Rijnmond port area.
Through the post-war reconstruction of the Dutch maritime industry, the workshop established its specialism in marine and dredging electric drives, working with the dredging contractors that became the Dutch industrial backbone.
The workshop developed a dedicated capability for submersible motor construction, working with international dredging operators and offshore vessel builders on bespoke underwater drive units.
Representative office established in Piraeus to support the Mediterranean dredging, offshore and marine industry directly, with a dedicated local engineering contact.
Submersible motor activities consolidated under the Trident brand, with a unified TKBS series and a dedicated technical website. Van Bodegraven Elektromotoren remains the parent engineering company.
From the first nameplate inquiry to the commissioned motor, you work with one Trident engineer. No handoffs. No account managers. The person you spoke to in week one is the person who signs the test certificate.
The engineering is done in the same building as the test bay. The engineer who designed your motor walks past it on the finishing floor and signs the test certificate before it ships. Every motor is our responsibility from drawing to dispatch.
We do not compete on luxury price points and we do not compete on commodity price points. We compete on engineered cost, what an honest piece of engineering should cost when you take the marketing premium out of it.
No filter, no sales process, no commodity quotation engine. Send the application brief, you will be talking to a Trident engineer.
